Section 2 assessment

                      Thinking critically

16. Much discussion has focused on the need to drive more efficient cars and use less electricity. If the law of conservation of energy is true, why are people concerned about energy usage?
R/ there are people that do not have an abundant knowledge about what is energy and how we can use it.

17. If heat flows in only one direction, how can both hot and cool liquids reach room temperature as they sit on a table?
R/ by the using of convection since there is a difference of temperature. So at time pass both liquids transfers thermal energy.

18.Think about what happens to jack and jill in the nursery rhyme. What kind of energy are used? How was each energy form used?
R/ they used kinetic energy because jack fells down so kinetic energy is used in form of falling.

19. Compare the three temperatures scales you learned about. How are they different? How are they similar?
R/ The three types of scales are different in the way of how is the boiling point and the water frezzes grades.
But they are similar because all measured the same ( temperature)

20. Use what you know about the movement of thermal energy to explain why you woulf place a minor burn on your arm under cool, running water?
R/  because we hace to contrarrest the burn by decreasing the temperature.

                     Developing skills

A halfway up: in this stage the gymnast use kinetic energy because she is moving for reaching the highest point: the gymnast is using potential energy because there us an energy named potential energy gravitational. Halfway down: the gymnast is getting down because of gravity so it is kinetic energy. And finally. The lowest point before hitting the trampoline: is also kinetic energy but when ut hit the trampoline and stays the kinetic transfers into potential energy.
